Unit 3 (3 weeks)
Digraphs - wh, ch, sh, th, ck
Children will learn the above digraphs and will be taught that those letters "stick together" to form one sound, even though there are two letters. That is why they are on one card (on the magnetic tiles).
It will be explained that the "wh" is only used at the beginning of a word and "ck" is only used at the end of a word right after a short vowel.
Punctuation: question mark "?" will be introduced.
Non-fiction stories will be introduced as well. Children will learn that some books that they read are "make-believe" whereas other books present them with true facts.
